Can't wait for the party! If I may, I have a piece of advice for the summer tour wardrobe. This skirt (which is on sale currently) from Roucha is amazing for traveling (doesn't need to be ironed) looks perfect with flats, sneaks, flip flops, heels- everything and takes up no space. I'm wearing it all summer with a t shirt, bandana around my neck and docksides. I don't know if you are a skirt type of person but can't recommend this skirt enough- I love everything I get from this company: https://roucha.com/products/p-02-005-shao-skirt
Congratulations on your soon to be book launch and book tour.
I can’t wait to have my hands on THE TREE COLLECTORS.
I enjoy giving THE DRUNKEN BOTANIST as a birthday present to my friends. Wish I could give it to family members too! Does it have a French version ?
Memory tips : muscle memories.
I use it with my students in French class.
The logical part of our brain is strong and useful, but unfortunately it becomes fickle and not very reliable under stress. That’s when muscle memory comes to the rescue. I condition the students to associate several different inputs with a new French word or sentence : a picture, a music, a gesture. With that technique the memory is stored in more than one part of the brain and it is easier to access.
I wish you the best on the coming weeks of your book tour !
I love it when siblings are friends and I love it when friends support each other. Yes! Brava to letting the world know about your brother's skills.
I have gotten a lot of work travel mileage from the work uniform. A denim/chambray shirt seems to look universally good, doesn't have to be ultra crisp, and is stain-forgiving. My first identical 3 were from Madewell (they all split in the armpit area year 7), but I've thrift-ed a nice inventory since. I like to pair them with (sometimes wild, sometimes not) wide-leg pants, but for example the very versatile Allison pant from Marine Layer (I got mine from eBay, but retail works too):
You go, Amy! Your itinerary looks terrific…and grueling. I'll look for future dates in CO. My "book tour" for Moon Over Humboldt is more modest: one reading in Arcata, one sit-and-sell at Eureka Books (yay!), and a reading at the retirement home where my mother lived. But no airplanes—taking the trip in my minivan loaded with books. We'll have bananas in common.
Amused by our parallel journeys: I'll be traveling light to overseas and East Coast for 16 days in Oct - with 3 pants, one pair being your exact Athleta style! Looking forward to seeing you at Mrs D's. Healthy travels, Margot
Someone on some meme suggested instead of pub crawling, how about bookstore crawling, stopping for lunch at a nice cafe and sharing your purchases. (This could also be done with thrift stores, quilt shops, etc.) Field trip time!
I missed joining your zoom session, but enjoyed watching it this morning! Thanks so much for the recording. Hopefully I'll be able to make it to the DC stop on your tour. Adult field trips are the best - for many years I've joined hikes with our county here in Chesterfield, VA and we've traveled around the state to hike with our own naturalist - great fun, and I always learn something new! Best of luck with your tour; looking forward to reading your book!
I saw your book yesterday at Annie Bloom's Bookstore here in Portland. It is gorgeous and I can't wait to buy it! (Well, I did have to wait but I will be back soon!)
Also, love your idea of adult field trips. I'd sign up for one you were leading any time. I LOVE reading your newsletters but it would be even more amazing to actually get to do a Field Trip in person some time. Like a walk in the woods, looking up and sketching together, in person. It would be fantastic! Just some food for thought for after all your book talks. In reality, I'm sure you're far too busy for something like that but it is always fun to dream.
Hi Amy, I was at your event in Santa Cruz. You were fabulous!!!! Not until I left did I realize that I could have raised my hand as a tree collector. On a recent trip to Scotland, I took a ton of photos of trees and have a Tree file on my phone. So, belatedly, I excitedly claim the title. You are such a fun person to listen to. Love your comments here on Santa Cruz. We also have a new (2 year old) wonderful independent bookstore called Two Bird Books with a great monthly newsletter. Speaking of that, would you offer any book recommendations in your newsletter when you think of it please? I have 3 I just finished for you; I Cheerfully Refuse by Leif Enger, Martyr! And Miss Benson’s Beetle in case you haven’t come across them. Sorry I don’t have the full names of the last two authors but I’m afraid if I move to another page to check….will lose this one!!! Be well and enjoy the rest of your tour. Betsy Powers
Looking forward to your book! And a Zoom launch party to boot!
Kathy

I love one-and-done recommendations. Thank you!

There is a French edition: here you go:

I so enjoy your newsletter. I’m told I have a good eye for photography, but I can’t draw at all or I’d upgrade.
May I say, your brother is a very good-looking man? He is.
Hahaha yes, my parents saved all the best genes for him--I was kind of the trial run.
We're watching the last episode of Dark Matter tonite!
Congrats to your brother for being a part of it.
Thanks! It's very cool to see this show take off.
I love it when siblings are friends and I love it when friends support each other. Yes! Brava to letting the world know about your brother's skills.

Excited for your launch!
Thanks for the recommendation!
I’d love to go to your zoom book launch, but sadly(?), I’ll be in Norway on vacation
Sounds nice! There will be a recording if you want to catch it later.
I totally will!!
I’m excited about the launch party! Just ordered books—one for my tree loving, tree planting husband. He could be one of these 50 vignettes. 🌳🌲
Much appreciated! Hope your husband enjoys the book.

HA! OK, do feel free to share all your favorite travel clothes, because I feel like we're kindred spirits!
Please provide the passcode for us to watch your launch party zoom session as we missed some of it.
ooops! I removed the passcode. Try again & see if that works.
That worked! Thank you.

Now I want to go to the Bull Run Watershed, too.
