I’m back with another live video that I shot while I was in San Francisco. I heard from a few more of you who really want to focus on drawing people, so in the next few weeks, I’m going to send something out that breaks that down, step by step.
Meanwhile, here’s a scene at Union Square that’s filled with people, and I started by drawing the people first this time, using a technique I learned from Jim Richards, who teaches it right here on Skillshare. Regardless—he uses this “people first” technique a lot, it’s a fun thing to try, and you’ll see me demonstrating it here.
For this one, I tried pre-painting the page with a few splashes of color that have little or nothing to do with the scene in front of me. It’s a fun way to loosen things up, and the weirder and more random the color, the more I usually end up liking it.
