Some of you have subscribed at the Patron of the Arts level, which means that I’ll paint a picture of a place for you, either using one of your photos or a general idea of what you want (a Tahiti beach scene, for instance).
When people subscribe at this level, they get an email that explains how the whole thing works, and then I do the art, send it off to them, and post a video of the process for all of you. (If any of you have subscribed at the Patron of the Arts level but not yet claimed your painting, just reply to this email to get the ball rolling)
For one recent Patron of the Arts, the subject was St. Leonard’s Hall at the University of Edinburgh. I’d been given this old photo to work from, and since this was a well-known building, I was also able to look it up and find some other views, just to get a better sense of it.
This, I thought, would be a perfect way to illustrate what we were talking about last week: using a purple/green/orange palette in a landscape.
