Art #70: Draw a Still Life

Make a step-by-step colored pencil drawing of anything

I have really enjoyed the bird art that you’ve posted to our chat and shared on our Zoom. It has motivated me to start something I’ve been wanting to do for a while: a monthly-ish art gallery of our art, to be shared with everyone who gets my free newsletter.

So many of you here have become friends and compatriots, and I would love to share what you’re doing and inspire other people to take up the simple and joyful act of picking up a paintbrush.

So—if you’re interested, please do this:

• Take the best possible picture of your art. A scanner is ideal. Your local FedEx or other copy place can do this for a couple bucks. Or prop your sketchbook up in bright light, ideally natural daylight but not direct sun, and try to maneuver yourself so that you take a picture where your phone is not casting a shadow on the paper.
