Art #67: Drawing Birds, Part Three

I had such a nice response from so many of you after our last zoom that I scheduled another one. This is one of those things that I’ll keep doing if you all keep showing up!

I’ll send out the link and other details next week, but for now, just mark your calendars for Thursday, Feb 6 at 5 Pacific/8 Eastern. We’re going to do birds, but it’ll be different: we’ll be painting lots and lots of small, silly birds. It’ll be fun! Stay tuned for the link and other details next week.

Meanwhile, a cardinal…

I did this one in watercolor and colored pencil. I was using Prismacolor Premier colored pencils, which can be frustrating because they’re so soft and the leads break easily. If you’re just getting into colored pencil, I suggest going to a good art store and testing out different brands to find the texture you like. Also, the colors vary by brand, so if you’re looking for a very particular dark green, for instance, you might need to try different brands.…
