Sometimes, for just a minute, the sun comes out and winter goes away. You know what you’re absolutely required to do in those moments? GO OUTSIDE.
So. I had planned to paint two chilly winter scenes for you today, based on photos submitted by some of you, but then the sun came out.
I will get back to the winter scenes, I promise. Winter is long. We have time.
Meanwhile, today, I went to the park and sat in the sun and drew pictures. I hope this gives you some ideas about going outside and drawing in your own neighborhood, if the weather allows. And if it doesn’t, just know that lots of plein air painters drive to the park and sketch in their car in the winter. It’s not a bad setup! Slide over to the passenger seat, drop a hot coffee in one cup holder and your watercolor water in the other, and draw whatever you can see from your parking spot.
