Kopp Sisters Literary Society--I'm Sending You a Book!
Kopp Sisters Literary Society
From My Kitchen Table to Yours!
It's Happening, People!
As promised, books are on their way to you. Sending these out was ridiculously fun for me in a season-of-giving sort of way. I hope they're just as much fun for you to receive!
You're getting a special signature...
Depending on which book you requested, your book is coming with an autograph not just from me, but from one of my characters. Because I'm writing about real people, I have, in some cases, been able to get hold of their real signatures and turn them into rubber stamps! How often do you get a book signed by a dead person?Â
See all the stuff I'm enclosing? Please read it!
I wrote all of this stuff JUST FOR YOU--this is not random, generic filler from my publisher that I'm just tossing in the envelope. It's all meant for you, so I hope you'll look it over.

I'm going to send you an email on Sept. 11, the official publication date for Miss Kopp Just Won't Quit. It will include a short, anonymous survey. Please do take a look and answer at least one or two questions. Your feedback will help me persuade my publisher do this again next year, when the fifth book in the series comes out.
Speaking of #5...and beyond...
I just turned in the fifth book, due out next September, and I’m already at work on #6. Both of these novels take place during the war. I don’t know much about what the Kopps were up to in those years. In fact, from my research I have only one sentence that gives any hint as to what Constance might’ve been doing. I’m working that sentence for all it’s worth. The rest of it will be fiction, but situated in real places with real people.
One of those real places is France! Where I made you a top secret, exclusive, just-for-you video!
I just got back from France, where I went for research/drinking rosé in sidewalk cafes. I actually did quite a bit of writing, too: for the parts of Book 6 that take place in France, I thought it would be helpful to get down some very rough scenes written in the actual location. I decided to write by hand so I could carry my notebook around the village and out to the countryside with me. I don't often write by hand, but I liked the immediacy of capturing the look and feel of the village with paper and pen, the way Norma or anyone else would've had to do it back then. I even wrote the three town drunks into the story, because they were just sitting in front of me for an hour or so while I wrote, being...well, being the town drunks. I figured that Langres probably had three people just like that 100 years ago (what village didn't?), so I put them in.
For you writing nerds, I managed about 12,000 words over six days, so 2000 words/day, written by hand, usually with a good long break in the middle for lunch. Langres is a town that closes down for lunch from about 12-1:30. The village is so quiet during those hours that you get the impression that everyone's gone home for a nap. The sleep is thick in the air, even walking down the street. So it was not hard to persuade me to knock off for a good long rest as well. Ah, France!
Â
So-- I promised members of this Society insider, behind-the-scenes stuff, so this is it. I shot this at the Fort de la Bonnelle, just outside Langres, France, where Norma is going in Book 6. I filmed it after taking what has to be the most glorious hour-long walk in the countryside I have ever undertaken. Click the image above to view it.
Enjoy your book, and feel free to tag me on social media when it arrives!
Cheers,
Amy
